I will be going to Langholm in the Scottish borders for their annual common riding this week. If you have never been to a common riding before, I urge you to go and try one out as they are great fun and the whole family can be involved.
The events include mounted processions and spectacular up-hill gallop followed by horse racing, athletic games, highland dancing and wrestling. The up-hill gallop on Kirk Wynd is particularly spectacular and here is one such image from last year. Good luck to the Cornet Lee Earsman and his right and left-hand men Graeme Murray and Derek Hogg.
