Photo of the Week
I will now be publishing a Photo of the Week which hopefully you will enjoy viewing just as much as I do. There will be no set rules and the Photo of the week could sometimes be totally different genre of photography than what I am used to shooting. With this type of thing, I find spontaneity usually brings some fantastic results, the photo below is a good example.
This shot is typical of a 1st dance shot at a wedding for the bride and groom, where we try and create a silhouette of the couple enjoying their 1st dance as husband and wife. There is nothing special about how to create the photo but when their daughter walked onto the dance floor, it was perfect timing as she entered my frame and snap! The light caught the silhouette and also the child perfectly and she has an expression that is priceless.
This was shot with just one bare speedlite, a Canon 580exII on a light stand, shot remotely using radio triggers. The only poost processing work done is to convert it to a black and white image and a slight darken of the ceiling where the light caught a reflection off room lights. A big thank you to bride and groom for being superb throughout the day and The Huntsman Inn for provide a super venue for an intimate wedding.
Please feel free to comment on the photo and add any thoughts and questions you may have about how it was achieved.
